The future is bright for my students. Providing the students with an array of experiences broadens their opportunities for success. My scholars are always questioning and gathering information to make meaning of the world around them. Attending school provides an unimaginable number of avenues in which information can be tapped into and provide valuable knowledge and experiences.
I have a high energy group of early elementary and middle school scholars who love exploring and learning.
They attend a Title I school where they all qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Nearly all of them come from low income households. The classroom consists of a diverse group of scholars from typical students to those with learning disabilities. For many of my scholars, school is the only place where they have access to lifes' necessities. In spite of the challenges, my scholars come to school daily to a place where they are being provided with exciting learning experiences that will produce life long readers.
Currently, our middle school team of teachers’ shares laptop cart of 40 working laptops for approximately 80 students. Our math classroom has access to the laptop cart one to two times a week, and it is hard at times to plan around the schedule. When we do have access to the Chromebooks, students are able to navigate Google Apps, Moby Max, Khan Academy, Kahoot, and mathematical games. It has been so fulfilling to witness student growth with the use of technology.
Having a technology center will allow us to authentically integrate technology into our daily learning.
With your help, we would like to continue building a technology center in the mathematics classroom to further student learning. In this project, we're asking for three Acer Chromebooks to continue building the technology station. The three Chromebooks will be a great addition to our math instruction in the near future.
I hope that the use of technology will provide opportunities to differentiate learning, support the mathematics curriculum, prepare students for technology focused future and excite the students about learning. Thank you for your support.
