My students are from an inner-city section of Cleveland, known for unsafe streets. We focus on making safety one of our top concerns at school because a feeling of safety allows you to focus on learning while at school.
My students are fifth and sixth graders just trying to succeed in education with obstacles that we are trying to overcome to match our counterparts in more affluent areas.
I would like my students to be able to learn modern uses for technology such as Google Docs, Microsoft Office, online storage, and coding to be ready for future careers.
Our district does not have the funds to supply technology for one to one access daily. Our students also don't always have access to have their own computers or laptops at home.
Having access to individual computers in the classroom allows me to create individualized learning plans for each child to achieve mastery in our math and science classes.
We are moving toward digital learning and having a class set of Chromebooks makes that task easier.
This project also asks for a mouse, a mouse pad, and headphones to give the student the full experience on each of the websites that we use for education in the classroom (Khan Academy, Freckle.com, Duolingo, Code.org, Scratch, Typing Club, and Flocabulary)
