Mobile learning is a must for our kids today. Additional laptops in our classroom will allow us to research projects, engage in online activities, and create projects through apps. By adding five more laptops, we can increase our computer capabilities.
I teach 53 enthusiastic 5th graders in a university laboratory school.
Our classroom is an integrated language arts and social studies class with a focus on real-world connections between our past, present, and future. My students are curious, critical thinkers who desire to use as much technology as they can.
My Project
These five additional Chromebook laptops, hard-shell cases, and charging station will allow my students to raise the level of the work we currently engage in on a daily basis. With technology sources limited, we are often restricted by the devices we have available. Five more Chromebooks would provide a 1:2 ration in our classroom. The laptops will also provide my students with app capabilities that we do not currently have since we only have older desktop computers. The Chromebooks will also provide us with mobile technology that can be used in a variety of ways including small group instruction and independent learning. The laptops are portable and can be used in other fifth grade classrooms.
As my students move through the education system, it is imperative they have opportunities to engage in learning integrated with technology.
