My Students

My students range in ages from 15-18. They live in a community that spans a wide geographical and topographical range, as well as a financial one. From families who live on generators because there is no electricity available to those who live in million-dollar homes, challenges are never in short supply for providing an education that fits all. It would be very easy for this mix to cause animosity, taunting, or even fights on a daily basis; but, it doesn't.

In fact, I grow more impressed every day with the level of acceptance, collaboration, and positive attitudes that these students have towards one another.

They are so far beyond the tolerance that many groups still struggle to achieve. Add into the mix the fact that there really is no racial majority beyond a statistical one, and you will see that we truly are a rainbow. While the same challenges to teach, learn, and grow exist every day, my students routinely impress me with their willingness to meet these challenges. Though they come from this wide array of backgrounds, struggles, and experiences, my students come together to make our school a wonderful place for learning and growing every day.

My Project

Chromebooks have revolutionized how I teach my students. Whether they are just beginning high school as freshman or seniors ready to take the next step in their journey, these computers allow us to explore beyond the classroom in ways that were impossible just a few short years ago. I've been overjoyed at the generosity of the donors on this website. You have been able to give me the tools to give my students opportunities that the school district just does not have the funding to give.

These additional computers will give me more flexibility to check-out computers to students for use at home, on the school bus, the practice field between sessions, or anywhere else their lives take them outside of the classroom.

While I have enough to support my students' learning inside the classroom, I cannot yet provide for those students who are unable to attend class regularly because of illness, family situations, or transportation struggles. These additional Chromebooks can give me the flexibility to support those students.

These Asus Chromebooks are particularly durable. Your donations have provided me the opportunity to purchase them in previous projects, and I have found them thoroughly impressive. As a Google School, we are able to provide each student with an unlimited Google account, the chance to collaborate with their peers on documents, videos, slideshows, and Google Classroom remotely, as well as ensure the Chromebook itself is always being used for educational purposes through GoGuardian monitoring. There is always something new to learn, and that sense of curiosity is something that I pass along to my students every day!
