My students need a Chromebook for our research unit. We will study extreme weather and will use the computer to explore meteorological websites and conduct research.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you used a computer? Remember pecking away at the keyboards, searching row by row for a certain letter? For many of my students, their first experiences with computers happen at school.

My third graders are new to the U.S.

and are learning English. They come from countries around the world, such as Haiti, China, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco. 88% of students in the school speak another language and 86% receive free lunch. The students arrive each day excited to learn and work together.

My Project

With a chrome book, students can practice basic computer skills, such as typing and navigating the web. Students will learn to conduct research, explore scientific websites, and type research papers complete with text features such as diagrams, headings, labels, photographs, and captions.

My students will benefit greatly from exposure to technology.

It is becoming increasingly more important for young students to have computer skills. Tests are now given online. College applications are done online. Modern jobs demand proficient computer skills. A chrome book will provide students who don't have opportunities to practice using a computer at home the chance to compete in the computer age.
