My Students
I work in Plainfield, NJ. I have 24 amazing dual language learning first graders in a low income district where more than 80% receive free or reduced lunch. Most of the students in my class have illiterate parents where they are unable/limited to read or write in thier home language, mostly Spanish. Most of my students are first generation, like me, and I want them to pursue their dreams and go to college. We are limited in literacy materials in the classroom.
My Project
This chrome book would be a huge help. Administration has decided to upgrade our classroom computers which is great, but due to cost they are removing three computers and only giving me two. I am left with only two computers and 24 students. Having three computers again would be a great help in ensuring that everyone is able to use the computers equally! They love using learning websites like abcya.com, Mobymax.com, and brainpopjr.com. Not only do they have fun, they are learning. Mobymax is great because they learn material at their own pace in reading and math! They love it!
