Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are an inner city magnet school to our district, with a medical theme. My students come from all over the city, from all different schools, cultures and backgrounds. In spite of the many obstacles, my students achieve higher than all the neighboring high schools and have a 100% graduation rate and college acceptance rate. Most of our students select careers in the medical school. Their access to resources needed to prepare them for this path is very limited. Donors Choose makes it possible for our children to have the necessary tools to succeed.

My Project

Our students are very committed to giving back to the community. They often come in real early before school starts and stay late after school dismisses, to plan for our pet wellness clinic and pet food bank events. Because most planning times are not during school operation times, we need to feed the students during these planning times. The food gift cards will greatly assist in providing energy and filling empty stomachs. The pet gift cards will allow students to provide pet items-on a needs basis for community members pets. The movie gift cards allow us to view pet themed documentaries. This project extends working hours and gives them great satisfaction into building a brighter future for their city.
