Choral Master Class

My Students

My students are of mixed ages; they are between ninth to twelfth grade. Each of them has auditioned to be in a select choir that meets as a club after school once or twice a week. In order to audition, they had to sing in a quartet, demonstrating that they can sing harmony, one on a part. They are also members of our school's Concert Chorus. These students love to sing and perform and have a desire to be challenged.

Whenever our school or community asks for a group to sing, these students are eager to share their love of music and give back to their community.

For example, the girls' choir carols in the village each year on a Saturday in December, visiting local businesses, and singing in the town square. Both groups were asked to sign a patriotic song with two days notice for Veterans Day this week, and twelve students showed up in the town square to sign our National Anthem. Their enthusiasm to share their talents is infectious!

My Project

My students have never had the opportunity to perform in a master class, and have never stayed overnight on a Chorus trip. This would be a wonderful opportunity for them to receive instruction from a college level choral conductor.

The students will be preparing challenging music in class to prepare for the trip, with the goal of bringing it to the highest level of artistry possible.

If the are able to attend the Masterclass, they will be coached to improve their skills and musical expressiveness. Hopefully, they will bring back what they have learned to the other members of our school Chorus.
