Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Some of my students move on to some of the best performing arts high schools in Manhattan. My singers live in New York City and learn to read, sing and appreciate music. They're students who crave a safe, musical environment to thrive!
These young musicians' faces beam when they have music class, as many come from neighborhood public housing without a lot of opportunities for private music lessons.
My students work diligently to increase their musical aptitudes. I see the process year after year. They're truly increasing their musicality.
My Project
My students need to learn and show their organizational skills as a means for a more effective rehearsal process in music. When students are responsible for the upkeep of a chorus folder, they're more invested in using it, treating it well and understanding how to care for items.
The file folders will be used for easy access to the filing cabinet of sheet music, organized by title of song but color-coded by the theme of the music in conjunction with our concert series.
Students need to know that caring for an object leads to better performance in the musical world!
