My students need comfortable seating that allows them to move while they learn. Wobble chairs are a middle schoolers favorite, as they need to move as much, if not more, than their younger peers.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my students to be successful and confident as they approach their high school years! The majority of my students come from hard-working, but often struggling, families. I want my students to be excited to come to school and to class. Seventh grade is a critical time. Test scores from this year are used to place students in top-performing high schools, which allow students' access to better opportunities, resources, and, eventually, colleges.

All students love to have choice, and to be comfortable as they're learning.

None of us wants to sit in a hard seat all day long. I want to give my students the opportunity to choose their seating each day so that those students who need to move can do so, without distracting themselves or others. A few of my colleagues tried flexible seating this past year, and I saw how much the students loved having the different options and how they stayed focused on their learning.

I want my students to have a comfortable learning environment that helps them be ready and excited to learn each day!

My Project

Please help my students have a comfortable and colorful place to learn this year! By using the wobble chairs, ball chairs, wobble cushions, balance balls, and other seating options, my students will have opportunities to move around during independent learning time. Research shows that when students can move around, it actually helps the learning process.

Flexible seating helps students have choice in how they will learn and collaborate in the classroom!

Giving middle schoolers choice in their seating helps get them excited to come to class and to be ready to learn. As students are growing, some can barely sit still for five minutes, let alone sixty minutes, so it's important for them to be able to move in a productive way.
