My Project

Being read aloud to by a grown-up is fun, and a great way to improve students' fluency and love of reading! My students choose books daily to bring home for a grown-up to read-aloud to them. Being able to display the front of books makes choosing books easier for children, and makes them more excited about reading.

As a Reading Interventionist, I am able to support children in many grade levels.

My students are in my classroom for a limited amount of time, which needs to be primarily for learning. However, as a firm believer that parent support and involvement are crucial to reading success, I allow a few moments daily for my students to choose books to take home to be read-aloud by their grown-ups. The quicker this can happen, the more time they will have for learning.

The book display shelf will allow for quick visual scanning of books and make choosing books faster and easier. Currently, my books are housed in plastic crates, crammed together, making it hard to see the books, requiring more time for my students to choose their books.
