My students are my kids. We have so much fun not only learning math, grammar, science, and social studies, but life skills. My kids come to school ready to learn and I can't wait to learn from them as well. It doesn't matter what they may be going through at home, they know that our classroom is safe. I tell them on the first day of school that we will be family. We will disagree, we will get frustrated, and sometimes we will get angry, but we will always respect each other.
The kids love playing wall ball and we have even started kick ball teams.
Many of them have never played an organized sport, so it is fulfilling to see them cheer each other on. They love computer coding and watching Kid President videos.
My 5th graders are the most incredible kids you will ever meet. Each one brings a unique quality to our room that helps us be the best we can be!
My Project
I am requesting the book Wonder for my classroom. I have a challenging group of kids coming to me and I would like to start our year off right. Wonder is a book that will teach my students about acceptance, overcoming challenges, bullying, resiliency and kindness.
I want my students to CHOOSE KIND.
By starting the school year off with this novel, we will be able to refer back to it throughout the school year. My wish is for my students to leave my class every day and choose to make the world a little better. I also plan on implementing Mr. Brown's Precepts into weekly assignments.
I will be teaching ELA and social studies this year and would like to have 26 copies of Wonder.
