Help me give my students flexible seating. With the pandemic, students are forced to stay at their desks. The soft seats and table with chairs will allow the students the option of switching to the floor.

My Students

My students are participating in a Kindergarten Spanish Immersion program. In my classroom they are learning math and Spanish language arts. The students are taught all content in Spanish. The students are very enthusiastic learners and learn the language and the content very quickly and easliy. We are in a title 1 school with many of my students receiving free or reduced lunch.

My Project

Students at the Kindergarten level are usually moving throughout the day to the carpet, centers, etc. With the pandemic, students are unable to sit close to another student. This has resulted in carpet time being removed from the day, centers being done individually if and when possible, and students remaining at a desk all day. I would like to provide a floor table option for some of my special needs students to have the choice to move to when needed. I would also like to provide all my students with soft seats. The soft seats could be used next to their desk with a clipboard. This would provide everyone an alternative seat from the desk. The seats could also be moved close to the teacher to form a small group for extra support. The teacher could carefully place the cushions 6 feet apart for the child to sit on. When this is done with out the soft seats, students tend to keep getting close to each other.
