My Students

Technology + Special Education = True Love! Our diverse learner population consists of exceptionally determined scholars. My students are irreplaceable, hardworking and goal-oriented. I love their unique qualities and differences. They are brilliant and often misunderstood by society.

All children can learn if creatively supported and enthusiastically encouraged.

We are a level 1+ school located on the South side of Chicago. We continuously strive to meet the individual needs for ALL scholars. We "learn not for school, but for life".

My Project

We are moving full STEAM ahead! STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

I am determined to creatively nurture and cultivate tech-savvy students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem solving, embrace collaboration and work through the creative process.

My students are innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century. Today's society requires much more than basic understanding of subjects, it requires application, creation and ingenuity.

STEAM removes limitations and replaces them with wonder, critique, inquiry, and innovation. All students but especially diverse learners deserve learning environments that are fluid, dynamic and relevant. Your donation will help our inner-city students get the essential nutrients of 21st-century education. Sphero and the other educational technology requested will help us go beyond code by incorporating robotics and technology with collaborative STEAM activities.

We are always learning, always growing, always experimenting. STEAM is aligned with our school motto, "We learn not for school, but for life." These resources will provide more real-life connections and provide our students with more opportunities to develop creative solutions. We want our students to be able to answer non-Googleable questions...only then will they be prepared for the 21st century. Please help up prepare, encourage and motivate our youth to think deeper.
