This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our after school choir program is partially funded by a community arts organization. Our students that are invited to participate include students from first through 8th grade and are a great representation of our multicultural student body. We saw the number of students participating in our after school program double in our second year. It has been so encouraging to see our students developing and nurturing great friendships as they participate in meaningful life experiences and community service. Our after school choir takes an active toll in performaning in civic and cultural community events during the year. The connections that we have made and nurtured through these interactions are an important and meaningful part of our students learning.
We are requesting a set of choir performance shirts for our students.
One of the goals of our performing group is to spread kindness and joy to the students and community around us. One of our traditional songs is called "Give Me Wings" that speaks of the influence of friends who's kindness, care, and encouragement help us on life's journey. It is so exciting to see students of all ages participating and sharing in these kinds of learning moments as we perform for our school community inside and outside of our school setting.
Performance shirts are an important part of the overall experience that our choir members enjoy as they participate in our choir program. Awesome performance attire reminds students that their preparation and performances are special as they perform and make great community connections.
Many of my students do not have access to these kind of learning and music performance opportunities outside of the school setting.
