My students need a balance bike and taxi-trike to help our project based learning activity be successful and to strengthen their gross motor development.
Living in a warm, dry climate, my kindergartners can play on the playground nearly every day of the school year. After working hard on rigorous classroom activities, they have fun enjoying the beautiful outdoors and socializing with friends.
My 22 kindergartners love imaginative play and physical activities.
They are active and need lots of room to move around and explore. Playing outside with friends gives them lots of opportunities to problem solve and practice good social behaviors. They need and enjoy having a variety of physical activities to participate in during recess. If you were to ask my students what they like best about school they would say, "Playing on the playground."
My Project
The kindergartners at my school decided to take on a project based learning activity to improve our kindergarten playground. The kids brainstormed ideas to enhance our playground. They felt the need to have more variety in the physical activities they can choose from at recess. The students overwhelmingly asked for trikes to ride on. Our grand plan includes building a roadway with safety signs and a little town. Our requested trikes and bikes will allow my students to have a greater variety of play options to promote their physical and social development. It will allow them the opportunity to learn the concepts of riding a bike/trike, while learning about road safety as well as sharing and taking turns. We are hoping you can help make our vision a reality and bring smiles to the faces of these deserving students!
