Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

First thing in the morning, it is hard for students to get to school. We have an extended advisory each day where students are practicing ELA and math, mostly on computer programs.

I give my students a group literary experience once a week by reading a book out loud together; this will be our next book, combined with hot chocolate, to keep us cozy in the mornings.

The majority of my students are ELL, and reading together as a group really promotes their English language acquisition. When you add a cup of hot chocolate first thing on a chilly Nevada morning, it is meant to create a wonderful experience to promote enjoyment of reading together.

The other items in my cart are basic paper and pencils. Those speak for themselves. We go through many packs of paper per week, and I can’t even count how many times a day a student asks for a pencil.
