My Students
If you enter my classroom, you will see a diverse group of students building practical math skills to use in the classroom and out. You will hear many accents, as a third of my students are English language learners. You might even smell the leftovers from the free lunch and breakfast all of my students receive. What you won't hear is that most of my students face poverty at home. You won't see that many of them have overcome unimaginable obstacles. You will see the joy of learning; you will hear the effort and work we put in every day, despite what we go through.
My Project
Cricut machines are a multi-use tool perfect for classroom and student use (with the supervision of course). Anchor charts and bulletin boards are made easier to read, decorate, and change. Rewards can include personalized swag for our grade level and students of the month. Students that can't afford spirit shirts can still dress down on Fridays once we make our own.
Some students spend more time in their classrooms than in their own homes.
Decorations and personalization create a space that is warm and inviting. Personalization and input from students create a greater sense of ownership and agency in the classroom.
