Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are unique in their diverse learning styles, backgrounds, and needs. Many of them come from different cultural and socio-economic environments, which means that some may face challenges that others don’t, such as inconsistent access to healthy food. For these students, having access to nutritious snacks during test time ensures they aren’t at a disadvantage when it comes to mental clarity or physical energy. When children are taking tests, their ability to focus, retain information, and perform well depends on many factors, including the nourishment they receive. One of the most crucial but often overlooked elements of test preparation and performance is having the right snacks.
The right snacks can have a profound impact on a child’s cognitive function and overall performance during a test.
Brain function requires energy, and glucose is the primary source of that energy. Snacks rich in healthy carbohydrates, proteins, and fats can keep glucose levels steady, preventing the dips in energy that lead to distractions or fatigue.
The main goal of providing snacks during test-taking is to optimize the students’ ability to focus, perform, and feel their best. It’s essential to eliminate any unnecessary distractions that could hinder their performance, such as hunger or fatigue. By ensuring that students have access to nutritious snacks, We aim to create an environment where they can work to the best of their abilities without the interruption of hunger or low energy levels.
