This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting a $100 gift card to Teacher's Pay Teacher's to purchase a wide variety of resources to learn about Chinese culture and Chinese New Year. This would be an exciting unit to explore paper plate masks, make lanterns, read comprehension stories about the year of the rabbit, read books about China, make a Chinese literacy flip book, practice addition using dominoes, and learn about Chinese traditions and culture.

Students would design beautiful Chinese lanterns, write about lunar new year facts, and make colorful paper plate masks as an exciting social studies thematic project!

My second graders would also make puppets, put on a Chinese reader's theater that is specifically written for second grade students. This reader's theater will help my young readers memorize high frequency words, practice fluency, and would help them blossom into confident readers. I think this project would be engaging and exciting! Won't you help us get these incredible social studies and art resources?
