My Project

A small fridge can be a highly beneficial addition to a special education classroom for a variety of practical, educational, and health-related reasons.

A small fridge supports health, independence, learning, and comfort in a special education classroom.

Eating habits get imprinted on children at a young age, and when people eat well during childhood, they’re more likely to have healthy life-long habits," said Rebecca Boehm, an author on a student published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. Access to cold drinks or cool items can help with sensory needs and self-regulation for students with sensory processing difficulties.

Teachers and aides don’t need to leave the classroom to access the staff lounge refrigerator, allowing for more consistent supervision. Small changes to our classroom environment can support our school in encouraging and educating students towards a healthy lifestyle.

It’s a small investment with a significant impact on student well-being and the ability of educators to meet diverse needs efficiently.
