it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students need incentives. I would like to support our students’ mental well-being and academic growth through a monthly Shave Ice Party for my math classes. In today’s fast-paced educational charged political environment, many students experience significant stress. This initiative is designed to create a fun, relaxing atmosphere where students can unwind, celebrate their achievements, and feel encouraged to seek additional help when needed.
Each month, students who show improvement in their homework and assessments or show perseverence through personal struggles will be rewarded with a delicious shave ice treat.
This not only serves as a tangible recognition of their hard work but also promotes a positive school culture where effort and perseverance are celebrated. Additionally, we will invite all students to participate in these gatherings, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Moreover, the Shave Ice Party will encourage students to attend extra tutoring and review sessions. By offering a fun incentive, we hope to motivate students to seek help proactively and engage more deeply with their learning. This initiative aims to break down the barriers that prevent students from accessing academic support and to create a supportive environment that prioritizes their mental and emotional health.
My mathematics class serves a high percentage of students with 504 and IEP and draws from many diverse backgrounds. A large percentage of the students in my school are from socioeconomically disadvantaged situations. Your support in funding this initiative will make a significant difference in the lives of our students. Together, we can help them navigate their academic challenges while enjoying a refreshing treat and building community.
