CHiLL OuT and READ! Our First Annual Literacy Night
Help me give my students a fantastic Winter Literacy Night. We will have a read aloud station, a book walk, book crafts, games and much more including a cookie decorating station!
Our school is in a very rural setting. Many of the students do not get the opportunity to get outside of this area, while others are blessed with a lot of background knowledge and opportunities. The school is set in a community that always comes together for its people and supports one another no matter what the circumstances.
Our students enjoy coming to school and our teachers make learning exciting.
Our principal promotes a positive environment where all students are accepted and treated with respect and the same high standard is expected of the students.
My Project
We want our students to get excited about reading. We invited families to come and experience books and other activities related to reading together. The materials purchased- cookies, icing, sprinkles... will go to a station for families to decorate cookies together as a fun add-on to the night. They can write about their experience which will add to the learning fun! Hot cocoa and marshmallows will be available as students can find a comfy spot to curl up and read a book to a family member, friend or even a DOG!! Did I mention they can wear PJs? So fun!!
