Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each one of my students has their own unique talents, and I am blessed to help nurture them. I am the music teacher to approximately 400 amazing students in grades K-4 at my Title I school!

Students are highly engaged in music class while listening and responding to books being read to them!

My students seem to retain new concepts much more easily when they are connected to a piece of children's literature!

I plan to implement these children's books in various ways to introduce and help reinforce musical concepts!

Some books lend themselves to teaching form, dynamics, tempo, and rhythm while other pieces of literature are wonderful for introducing students to particular instruments, genres of music, or musical artists and composers. Connecting literature to music is an exciting experience for students!
