Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful, fun-loving students who are often overlooked due to the area in which they reside. As a part of the Mesquite area, my students represent a wide variety of ethnicity groups, family backgrounds, and learning patterns. Often labeled as "below level" in Reading/Writing due to their large amount of ESL students, my students are often passed to the next grade level without the knowledge that they need in order to truly be successful. I am working to change that every year because I do not operate with the belief that students can only be products of their environments.
Due in large part to a lack of resources and funding, students often lack the motivation that is needed in order to see constant and consistent growth with every school year.
It is my desire to do all that I can to show each one of my students that they can succeed. All I need are the resources in order to do so.
My Project
Due to the fact that I am an educator who still operates with a firm belief in the power of words, the pencils and pencil sharpener requested will eliminate the bothersome fact that so many student arrive to my class with a pencil. This could very easily become frustrating for all involved, however, I provide my students with what they need no matter the cost.
The computer, however, will help us apply more technology and write our way into this new world of education!
Unembarrassed to say, I often struggle with the best means of incorporating meaningful technology techniques into English Language Arts lessons. Often times, I find myself operating under the ideology that students will only become strong readers and writer through the active practice of reading and writing. Although this is true to a certain degree, I have been continually learning that there are ways to achieve the goals of old days through new-age means. The requested MacBook Air will allow me to do just this without the limitations often associated with out of date computers and software.
