Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many Pre-K classrooms are filled with brightly colored beautiful toys that are representative of their surroundings. And while this allows them the opportunity to practice living in the real-world, if it alone is the experience of the Pre-K child, then it robs them of their right to imagine. It controls and limits their view of the world, especially when most of these toys are light-skinned colored or solely representative of a single culture.
Pre-K students deserve the freedom to explore their own identities through open-ended props that inspire story-telling from their points of view.
Please help me inspire my young learners to tell their own stories with less-defined props in soothing earth and diverse skin-toned colors.
