Children Can Code the World With New Technology

My Project

Children are capable of amazing things, coding with new technology such as an Apple laptop, is one way I hope to motivate and facilitate learning in my STEM classroom. Reaching my students in unique and exciting ways help facilitate learning and is key to helping my students imagine a world outside their rural upbringing.

My students are in grades PK - 5th and they have limited exposure to the outside world.

These children are rural students, in a Title 1 school, that live simply without many opportunities to experience the world beyond their own community, much less the broader world we live in. Exposing these children to new ways of coding and digital products that they can learn to create and share is a way of deeper meaningful learning using any subject. There are multiple coding opportunities for my older students that we have been wanting to use but the few working Chromebooks we have will not support the system requirements. Being able to design new and updated lessons with updated technology for my rural school is essential to keep students excited for their learning.

My students will have the opportunity to code, create, and build digital programs, applications, presentations, and more with the requested MacBook. My older students will also use these projects as a way to show deeper understanding from their general education standards of learning in math, science, and social studies.

Donations for my project will help bring the outside world to my students, and offer them learning opportunities that will allow them to imagine a world outside of their small community.

It will allow them to imagine another life beyond what they are experiencing in their everyday life. By exposing these children to advanced technology and new ways of learning I will enhance their skills and motivation for their own education.
