Help me give my students the supplies that they need to create Dale Chihuly inspired sculptures. They will be using colored sharpies to decorate clear plastic plates and cups and then use the heat guns to melt them into sculptures.
I teach 3rd-5th grade Art in a low income area. The students receive art instruction 1- 2 times per week. We are part of a school that celebrates inclusion and almost every class has students of varying abilities and needs. Students work independently on projects and when finished have an opportunity to help others who might work slower than others. We all work together as one community. All kids are our kids!
We provide meaningful opportunities for students to create and learn at all times.
I love my students creativity and want to see it flourish more that it already does.
Heat guns are a material that we don't normally have in an elementary school and would be quite beneficial to our school at this time so that we can expose our students to a new art form. I am trained in 3-D art, specifically glass blowing, and would like to bring some of my expertise to my students. Since we can't blow glass, we can do faux glass.
Using the heat guns, the students will be able to try their hands at 3-D sculpture in a way that they have never done before.
These materials will allow us to make my dream of faux glass sculpture with children come true.
