Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Introducing live animals into the classroom environment can provide invaluable learning opportunities for elementary school students. Chicks, in particular, offer a unique and engaging experience that can foster curiosity, empathy, and a deeper understanding of life sciences. This proposal seeks funding to implement a program that integrates chicks into elementary school classrooms, providing students with hands-on learning experiences that align with curriculum standards while promoting empathy and responsibility.

My Students will be studying the life cycle of chickens.

They will also be studying the structure and function of bird wings and beaks. My goal is to have my students actually see chicks hatch and grow into young adult birds. Many of my students would not have the opportunity to the life cycle of the chickens in person without this activity. Having live chicks would help my students become actively engaged in the process, rather than just reading from a book. The chicks will be donated to a chicken tender in our town to live out their days with other chickens. Your donations will make this project possible!
