Chickadees for Spring!

My students need one copy each of nine "Chickadee Award" nominee books.

Our elementary school in rural Maine would like to participate in the Chickadee Award voting, which takes place every April. This children's choice award is given every year to a picture book. The Chickadee Award program is designed to help students develop an appreciation of outstanding writing and illustration in current children's picture books.

Our school's budget was frozen in November, and we were unable to purchase this year's nominees. Each year we have participated in this event. Our students are excited to think that their votes help choose which book wins the Chickadee Award.

Being able to have all nine of the Chickadee Award nominees available for our kids to read at their leisure extends the excitement. Currently I am unable to let the books leave the library, as I have to get them on loan from other libraries. If we had our own copies, the books could be checked out.

Your donation would enrich the whole voting experience for our Kindergarten through 4th grade students. It is such a wonderful experience for our students to be a part of. Watching them as they place their vote is something I look forward to every year.
