Help me give my students an experience to fully witness the entire life cycle through exploration. We will be scientist as we use our microscope and magnifying glasses to observe the hatching process.
My kiddos, students, are energetic two and three-year-olds from various backgrounds. They come to school with a great deal of energy and love along with the curiously to learn. Each child is enthralled with learning like a scientist. We recently voted on our class pets, and each and every child is enthralled with them. We ask questions which drives our learning, we make observations, predictions, and hypothesis about them and their habitats. Giving my students the opportunity to experience the life cycle in our classroom would be an amazing opportunity that they would otherwise not have.
My Project
Giving my "city" kids the experience of seeing the life cycle in person will be one of my classes greatest memories. A farmer will give us all the information we need prior so that the children will know what to expect in the hatching process. We will learn about the different types of chick eggs, how to turn each egg and why it's important to do so, we will learn what to do when the chick hatches and how to care for each of our new family members after their "birth."
As a class, we will act like scientists as we ask questions, examine, analyze, observe and create a safe environment for our new class members.
This project would also be shared with the entire school as we make observations, vote on names, and create a school community excited about the life cycle.
