My Project
Can I have a piece of gum? Is a question I hear all day long because my students like to chew gum to help them focus. With the recent increase in grocery prices, it has been harder for me to pick up several packs of gum and keep my grocery bill within budget.
Many students like to chew gum when they get anxious to help calm them down or when things are getting busy they like to chew gum to help them focus.
Having lots of gum means I can put a pack or two out and students can get it when they need, without having to ask me for it. Right now I keep the gum in my desk or only students that I can see need it are getting a piece or when we have testing all students get a piece. Some students do ask, but right now I have to prioritize who can have gum and I feel guilty about that.
Although we have other fidget tools in the room that students can use to help them through tough situations, many students this year prefer gum. This donation of gum would allow any student who needed a piece to have it when they needed it.
