This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The printer is out of ink again? It seems that even with some of the modern technology we have, we still need the supplies to keep them working! Keeping my supply cabinet filled with items such as replacement ink, glue sticks, and construction paper is essential to teaching in a 5th grade classroom.

My 35 students are living in a low income neighborhood of Southern California.

We are a public, Title I school of over 1,000 students. As you can imagine, it is a busy campus each day with students from preschool through sixth grade on our campus. With almost 100% of the students qualified for free breakfast and lunch, there are very few resources in their homes for extras such as computers, printers and art supplies.

My Project

All too often, students are unable to print the projects or papers they have been working on because we are out of ink for the printers, or the printers have stopped working all together. This year, I would like to be able to replace my printer with 2 new HP 8100 printers. In addition to these printers, I would like to have some hardcover blank books for the students to create poetry books with for Open House in June of 2014. With the generous help of Chevron and their Fuel Your School funding, I would like all of the students to have access to working printers and Chromebooks and a supply of replacement ink cartridges. In addition, I would like to replenish my art supply cabinet with new glue sticks and construction paper.

This donation from Chevron will make a big impact on our school since we no longer have the same amount of funding for technology supplies for our classrooms.

The funding of this project will allow the students and I to be able to successfully print papers each day. All of these supplies will be used this school year but the computers and printers will be used for many more years to come. Thank you for considering our request for new, much needed, technology supplies.
