Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My GATE (gifted and talented education) students are incredibly inquisitive and love to learn! My students love real world problem solving & challenging themselves. My site based program is designed for the brightest students in our school. It's important my students push through boundaries of traditional learning modalities and challenge their minds. In today's world, technology is crucial. Students across our school are loving, inquisitive, and love being a part of our school as a community. Teaching the most impressionable minds is such a joy.
The sooner my students are exposed technology that excites them, the sooner they'll start exploring STEM pathways through coding.
My Project
I want coding robots to use in GATE because it's a new and exciting technology that has real world applications. Today's tech business is booming, I want my students to be exposed at the elementary level to coding so they can start exploring pathways and experience success with robots young. My students use Chromebooks, and iPads, however, new exciting robots would engage them at a new level.
Sphero robots will allow my students to learn to code.
My students deserve access to new and exciting technology just like students at non-Title 1 schools. I want to form their minds into problem solvers. I will design activities for the students to teach the robots to move in particular patterns and they will be working on their collaboration skills at the same time. Learning to problem solve in small groups and pairs with the robots will help grow their technology skill set and their collaboration skills.
