This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our scholars are hungry for new opportunities to have fun, learn, and challenge each other. They come from many different backgrounds but all come to school every day ready to try their best to work hard!

They have so many strengths, unique talents, and abilities that are waiting to be nourished.

They thrive when given new and exciting opportunities that may not be otherwise provided to them due to low socioeconomic levels. They have made tremendous academic gains and are deserving of new programs and activities.

My Project

We are in need of Chess sets and instructional materials for our Chess Club! Our goal for this year is to grow interest in Chess through a Chess Club that can have fun playing Chess and learning the game after school. We will also teach good sportsmanship, how to maintain calm and think critically, and how to use a Growth Mindset to improve skills every single day! We also want to give students a place after school where they feel they belong and we believe Chess will help improve the confidence in themselves that will carry over into the academic environment.
