My Students

My students want to learn the game of chess. For the first time at our school, we will be having a chess class! Our school has instituted a new schedule called "J-Term". This term occurs twice during the year and consists of three classes that are 100 minutes long each. Each class runs 18 days long in January and June.

As a school, teachers have spent the last few months planning three new classes to teach.

These are not run of the mill classes but a chance for students to have a new experience in school that they usually do not receive. Some of the classes offered include yoga, mindful studies, boxing, net sports, Spanish dance, chess and many more!

We have surveyed our students and there will be two sections of chess! Many of these students are beginners while a few of them have some experience with the game. Many are excited to branch out and learn this great game.

My Project

These materials are going to allow my students to learn a game that they might never get a chance to learn. These chess sets will allow them to compete against other students and learn the game in an educational setting. It will expand their critical thinking skills and improve strategic awareness.

Believe it or not, my students are excited about chess!

I am looking forward to presenting them with these chess sets so they can have a great experience in class. My hope is that chess will thrive at our school and bring out the best in all my students.
