Chemistry Temperatures

My students need 6 digital thermometers for several laboratory activities.

I teach Chemistry and Physics in a small, rural, mountain community in North Carolina. I really think that students get a better understanding from science if it is hands-on. Thermometers get broken so these digital thermometers will last for a longer time and be of more use to all classes.

Funds are limited, now more than normal. Our school feeds into a low income area. Supplies can not be replaced often so when thermometers get broken in lab, we have to try to make due.

The digital thermometers that I am requesting can be used by ALL science classes and some of the math classes as well. They are more durable than the standard glass ones. This also gives student a better idea of some better equipment that they may see in college. These thermometers will allow students to do many activities that we do not have the materials to do now.

Allowing students to have a hands-on lab experience will increase their comprehension of required material that will appear on their end-of-year state exams. Most students learn better by doing activities themselves using the equipment instead of just being told how the equipment works. Please help.
