This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am excited to embark on a culinary adventure with my first-grade students as they explore the intersection of gardening and cooking. This project aims to create a hands-on learning experience where students cultivate and harvest fresh ingredients from our garden, then use them to prepare simple and healthy dishes.
With proper cooking utensils and child-friendly cookware, my budding chefs will be able to translate their garden harvest into delicious and nutritious meals.
These tools will help them develop basic cooking skills, enhance their understanding of nutrition, and foster a love for preparing their own food. Develop life skills such as planning, organization, and time management through the planning and execution of gardening and cooking activities.
The goals for this project is to develop culinary literacy skills by introducing students to basic cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen tools. Promote healthy eating habits by connecting the food on their plates to the plants they grow, emphasizing the importance of fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
My first-grade students are a vibrant and curious bunch. They bring enthusiasm, creativity, and an eagerness to explore the world around them. Each child is special in their unique way, and we are committed to providing them with engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
