This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our lovely campus that is located on the southeast side of Austin. Our school looks for innovative ways to build the community and culture for our students, faculty and staff. One thing our campus community values is the opportunity to encourage each other in a variety of ways, one being that each individual student is allowed to express themselves in a way that demonstrates kindness and leadership through social emotional learning activities, spirit teams, fine arts, athletic teams, and STEM learning.

The clothes and pom poms requested will allow our campus to achieve the goal of continuing to encourage our talented students, which at this time is our spirit team, to express themselves while demonstrating leadership, without feeling discouraged or left out due to not being able to afford to look like an organized team.

We all know that with youth having access to social media, they can become influenced with what they see and that may have an affect on their individuality, personality, and character. Looking together as a team can boost their self-esteem.

Our spirit team's efforts in bringing the campus community together with the on-campus and around the community service projects they participate in, is only one of the opportunities they have been afforded that builds their self-esteem. Those students that didn't think they had it in them are no longer afraid because they have teammates that they are bonding and building with to be better youth.
