Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from a low-income neighborhood where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of the students come into kindergarten unable to recognize letters or read and often do not have the resources to be able to read at home in order to better their reading abilities.
Even though my students have many factors working against them, they are enthusiastic learners that deserve to be provided with resources to help them succeed!
We are committed as a community to work together to provide the best learning environment for our students. Through high expectations and a strong family connection, we help our students achieve academic and emotional success. My students are hard workers and truly want to be in school.
My Project
I am one of the cheer coaches for our academy. My cheer club consists of first grade and second grade students. Being a low-income school in a high need area, our school loans and provides all the items for the students to perform at various performances and events. These items include anything from the shell and skirt all the way down to the bow, socks and shoes.
My co- coach and I have done our best to keep each girl's uniform pieces organized but by the end of the season the girls mix all their pieces of their uniform up.
A solution to this would be getting cinch bags to keep the uniform pieces organized for each individual cheerleader.
Also, it would be helpful to have a shoe organizer (as we have many many shoes in various sixes) so that we can store the shoes when not in use and keep them from getting dusty. Jumbo ziplock bags will be helpful to store the pom-poms from getting damaged when not in use.
The bags would be numbered instead of names so that the bags can be reused for years to come, just like we keep reusing the uniforms. Help me, my co-coach, and the cheerleaders stay organized! (And mostly help us coaches stay sane!)
