My Project

My current students have a range of disability categories and require specialized instruction in both academics and social emotional learning. All of my learners take part in both grade level classes in addition to their specialized classes. We are in need of more resources to begin and our day with a check in and check out system that will allow all staff that work with these students to get a better picture of where they are starting and ending their day emotionally.

All of the students I work with also have a disability they are also learning about in addition to being a middle schooler with new feelings they have never felt before.

This project will allow us to create a check in/out system that will be visual and easier to use. Having white boards on wheels will allow us to move these resources around as we travel to different parts of the building. We would also like to start a question of the day to have a common conversation starter to work with the our students with. We cannot even begin to get through curriculum if students' emotional well-being is not also being addressed. We would love to build a magnetic system for students to communicate their needs to us as well as have a portable laptop station so we can also have an electronic version as well. These resources would allow us to build this system for the remaining part of the year. Having a better idea of how are students are feeling would make a tremendous impact on my learning community.
