Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When you are arriving at a new place where many things are different such as learning a new language, adopting to a new culture an often education. Most of the students that I work with have arrived from a new country or have parents who are from a different country and have learned the customs from their parents as well as the language.

Many of my students have received limited schooling in their country or their parents have had very limited schooling themselves and often do not speak English; therefore, it is hard for them to help their students' complete tasks such as their homework or reading them a story at bedtime.

My Project

These books and materials will continue to enhance the reading and using visuals in classroom that I strive to create, as well as sharing what they are learning to their parents. My classroom library is a place where my students can barrow and look at books when they are done with their work, test, or want to read at home. The books that get a sport in my library are chosen based on the kids that I work with. Often they like to have privacy which is where the privacy dividers come in helpful so that they can read to a stuffed animal or draw what is happening in the book. The 30 mailbox is so that students can check out or store a book that they are reading in order to have easier access to them.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read at their level and read to family members.

Having books that students can have access to in my classroom is really important to me since the school that we are in does not have the space nor the resources to have a school library so most of the books that students have access to are the books that are in a classroom library.
