Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students are not from the neighborhood. Many of our students come from different areas because we are known as a "hub" school. This means that all students are not coming from the same background. We are a Title I school with students coming from a low socio-economic background.
My job as their teacher is to push my students to be the best version of themselves that they can be, no matter their background!
My students want to learn. They come to school ready to learn and to better themselves every day.
Because of the varying backgrounds, it is difficult to keep all students engaged at all times. I have to reach students from different backgrounds and different home lives at the same time.
I strive to create a classroom environment that is inviting to all. I strive to maintain an environment that encourages all students to come to school daily to learn.
My Project
Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a way for students to practice math concepts and know immediately if their answers are correct or not? Thankfully there is! VersaTiles are an independent, self-checking skill practice system for first grade math. These would be an awesome addition to our math stations. Students would be able to practice a standard they are struggling with and receive immediate feedback on how they are doing.
Students need immediate feedback to help them master the math standards.
It is difficult for first graders to independently practice math concepts. VersaTiles make it possible because students are able to practice the necessary skills and check their answers using the answer tiles. I would love to be able to have my students independently practice the math standards and know immediately the feedback.
