Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a 12:1+1 (self-contained) class of third, fourth and fifth graders with various learning disabilities. My students come from mainly low income families. I push my students to challenge themselves and strive to be their best every day and it is a privilege to experience their successes.
Each of my students learn in different ways.
I try to incorporate hands on materials in my every day lessons to keep my students engaged and motivated. My students are hard-working and love learning through hands-on activities.
My Project
Fine motor skills refer to coordination between hands and fingers with the eyes. Along with academics, I try incorporating life skills in our daily lessons to help students become more independent. Many of my students have difficulties with tying their shoes, letter formation, and cutting with scissors.
Part of our school year mission this year is to improve our fine motor skills to be more successful in our endeavors outside of the classroom.
By improving their fine motor skills it will also helps them improve in their academics. My hope is that with the necessary resources students will be able to apply the skills that they have learned into their daily lives.
