My students need a powerful microscope that will allow them to see their own cheek cells.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Nilsen's classroom raised $384

My Students
Last week I was able to get a cordless microscope from the help of Donors Choose and we are so excited! One microscope for 25 eager students is great, but another one would be even better! Please help give us the opportunity to explore our cells some more.
Students at our Title 1 school come from a high poverty area and don't have much experience with science.
Since the introduction of a science lab last year, all students in grades 1-5 have been given the chance to engage in a hands-on lab once a week. We have limited resources and hungry learners. Available lab supplies are mostly dated and/or cheaply made which inhibits many potential experiments for our young scientists
My Project
What's a better way to learn than literally looking inside yourself? Fifth grade students learn about plant and animal cells but we don't have enough microscopes to view the cells. I want students to make mounts of their own cheek cells and get a chance to learn about science in a very hands-on way!
Students that are able to experience science first hand are much more likely to enjoy science and school.
We are counting on this generation of students to solve the world's problems with pollution, disease and energy. We need to provide them with the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond. Every scientific breakthrough had scientist behind it, and at one point, every scientist was eleven.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
