My 6th graders are imaginative, technology driven, and eager readers. They come from a small, rural farm community with parents that work hard and support them. More than half of the district qualify for free or reduced lunch.
These students are active readers who are eager for opportunity to read all the books that they can get their hands on.
They also love to share their book review with other students and recommend new reads! They crave an easier way to checkout and return their books of choice.
My Project
My 90 students are very active readers. Because of this, it is challenging to keep up with the books that they are checking in and out. They go through them so quickly and need an easier way to check them out of our growing classroom library.
With a new Chromebook and book scanner, they would be able to use an online, reading level organized inventory to check out the books available in the classroom.
When they return the book, they can write a quick review, which allows me to check in on their reading habits. Utilizing https://classroom.booksource.com will allow students to easily access the books available to them.
The scanner allows students to scan their book on checkout and return. It also allows for me to add new books to the online library as our classroom library continues to grow throughout the year.
