Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are amazing actors and actresses. Every year they put on a great show but the audience cannot hear their amazing work. They work so hard to learn their lines and to get the movements right but all their hard work is very difficult to decipher since the audience can't hear them. The audience is captivated by the actors/actresses performance and tries really hard to listen but can't. Performing is an outlet for our students. Many of them have disabilities such as speech impediments and ADHD and when they perform all these disabilities are dissipated. It is as if they were born to act. They are eager and enthusiastic when they are acting and they take their acting very seriously.

Our most recent production was the Lion King and it was fantastic, however it was difficult to hear their performances.

My children come from homes that are very caring but have very limited economic possibilities. We are a Title I school. This means that in their homes their resources are limited and their income is below the poverty line. This situation does not stop them from being eager to learn and having positive outlooks on life.

My Project

With these headphones our students will be able to perform during the school's plays and be heard. These headphones will be used by approximately 8-10 students but it will benefit an audience of 200-400 people. During these performances it is very difficult for the audience to hear what the actors/actresses are saying and unable to pay attention.

We have a wonderful play each year but our audience has a difficult time hearing our performers.

With these headphones we will be able to be heard and our show will be enjoyed by all. We put a lot of work into our performance and the students really enjoy acting but if the audience can't hear what the performers are saying it is very hard to enjoy it.
