Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our day starts with eager students ready to get the show on the road. We have breakfast together, then our day is filled with activities, fun, reading, math, etc... all while learning. We love reading curled up in their bean bags and more books will help us continue to improve our reading levels.
We are a third grade class in an inner city school district.
My students are wonderful, hilarious, and caring boys and girls. They unfortunately live in "the most dangerous city in the US" which is also considered extremely hi-poverty. My students come to school each day ready to work and do their best. Our school is a newer school but due to budge cuts our class library is lacking in quality and quantity books. At the end of the day, we are third grade students who want to learn, graduate high school, and then go off and graduate college! Reading is a fundamental part of their success, so we are asking for help with our class library!
My Project
My students will use the Speakaboos' subscription to increase our library resources. My students will have now have a wide selection of books. My classroom is filled with students reading all different levels, which includes students reading below level. Speakaboos' books read to the students and has high interest books that will entice boys and girls to read. While I am in guided reading groups the other students are reading and writing about their reading, therefore with the Speakaboos' subscription many students who might struggle can have a book read to them and follow the printed words as well. This will become an exciting and engaging reading resource for my classroom!
Donations to my Speakaboos' subscription project will make such an incredible difference in my classroom.
It will allow my students to have another reading resource that is full of engaging, exciting, and leveled reading stories and therefore it will help increase our reading also.
