Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle school is such an impressionable time to develop one's self-identity. For my students with articulation differences/disorders who have been in speech therapy for years, this time can be especially hard. For some of my students, they are embarrassed by their speech, which affects their confidence in speaking to peers. For others, they have been in speech therapy for so long that they have low motivation or no longer believe their speech can change. This is especially challenging as their speech-language pathologist who needs to find innovative ways to motivate and help them improve their articulation skills so they can become confident speakers.

As a speech-language pathologist dedicated to improving the communication skills of my students, I strive to provide evidence-based practices in a fun and engaging way.

The materials I have requested will help me achieve this. The workbooks requested uses strategies that are supported by research that shows successful acquisition of speech sounds and generalization. The games selected will provide an engaging way to keep my students motivated and interested. With your generous support, my students will be asking to come to speech therapy.
