My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds and attend a school that focuses on project-based learning. As such, they are accustomed to working on collaborative projects and taking deep dives into several areas of our curriculum, including literature and art.

My students are at a dynamic age; they inquisitively view the world through lenses that are both curious and magical.

As their teacher, I am constantly exploring new ways to keep them enthusiastically engaged in all that we do. They always bring a lot to the table and never cease to amaze me.

My Project

The National Geographic publication of Tales from Arabian Nights is a beautiful, high interest version of this timeless classic. It is sometimes challenging to read stories that are 1,000+ years old, however the folks at National Geographic have done a fantastic job adapting these tales for middle school readers, and included awe-inspiring illustrations. In addition, we are requesting four copies of an Arabian Nights board game, which focuses extensively on reading the actual tales (each player's round requires them to read passages from the story).

The set of books and board games in this project will provide my students the opportunity to read and learn about one of the most important pieces of literature in human history.

In addition, it will teach them about a very important culture in human history. This leads to tolerance and acceptance.
